LIFEGUARDING

Classically trained on the piano since the age of six, Michael has honed his musical talents through collaboration, composition, and competition. He travelled the world diversifying his cultural understanding of world music and applies it to his own works now. Over the past two decades he has expanded his understanding across multiple instruments and genres.

At 16 years old I had to get a summer job. This job became a focus in my life for the next 4 years. Even as a teenager, I felt that learning life-saving skills and serving others would be spiritually rewarding. This job exposed me to the unpredictable nature of our world and was the first phase in steadying my mind for emergency response.

The responsibility and the pressure of knowing that your skills will determine whether you will be saving someone's life or watching them die in the next few moments really forces you to grow up quickly.

With the ability to build the sounds you hear in your mind from scratch, music and sound design is limitless. Coding audio programs in Java and C++ as well as developing MAX/MSP patches has given Michael the ability to break from the limitations of VSTs and digital synths. His ability to build code and use microcontrollers to design his own synthesizers can bring his audio powers into his own hands.
